Yes we have gone and done it!
We are very pleased to be able to announce that St Mary’s has become a Fairtrade Church.
To become a Fairtrade church we have committed ourselves to:
1. Use Fairtrade tea and coffee after services and in all meetings for which we have responsibility.
2. To move forward on using other Fairtrade products such as sugar, biscuits and fruit.
3. Promote Fairtrade during Fairtrade Fortnight and during the year through events, worship and other activities whenever possible.
St Mary’s has joined over 4,000 churches that have also worked to have their support of Fairtrade officially recognised by being accredited as a Fairtrade Church.
These churches organise hundreds of events throughout the year, and include Fairtrade in their worship and prayers.
On the first and third Sundays of the month we will have a stall in the church hall following our morning worship (about 11:00am), with a wide range of Fairtrade goods, including tea and coffee, as well as lots of delicious treats including a whole range of chocolate and biscuits.
Have you have been looking for a way to help to support trade justice and help alleviate poverty? Come and make a start by buying from our stall and help make a real difference to the lives of more than 7 million farmers, workers and their families in 59 developing countries. It tastes good to.
